May Berzari is preparing to enter the Academy of Magical Arts, studying diligently and earning money through potions, medicines, and cosmetics. Even within the Hunters Guild, she is known as a skilled herbalist, but few realize that May is a shapeshifter. Through an absurd twist of fate, May, in the form of a rat, finds herself with first-year student Vivienne Armoise at the exact moment the student is performing a familiar binding ritual. May becomes the familiar! Enslaving a sentient being as a familiar is illegal, and for this, Vivienne risks having her gift sealed. May cannot allow this to happen: the bonds of a familiar forbid her from harming her mistress. Breaking free will not be easy. May must remain silent and wait for the right moment while carrying out the orders of the high-born brat. And when both the mistress and the familiar fall in love with the same young, eligible Hunter... try starting a romance when your rival is a beautiful, young, noble witch, and you are nothing more than a rat!
