Меч в кленовой листве

author: Анна Шумска

In ancient times, the lands of Maljada became part of a powerful empire: the royal House of Vicenn voluntarily surrendered their authority to prevent their small country from being destroyed by nomadic raids. This is the version now taught to noble children—in a state where the dark magic of the ruling House of Ebron maintains the obedience of slaves. In reality, however, power was seized. Young Lady Noemi, whose mother comes from the house of Vicenn, hopes to live quietly according to her own conscience; she is certainly not the one to change a world built by the Ebrons... However, one of them, the emperor's cousin, unexpectedly asks for her hand, and such suitors are not refused. It turns out that Noemi is far from repulsed by her groom. And for the groom himself, a clever, powerful, and cynical magician and politician, she is perhaps his only weakness. The novel belongs to the Digger Chronicles world, but it can be read as a standalone: the plot is completely self-contained.
